Gamecentral Podcast: Episode 98 - Silver Lining

This isn't just A week, this is THE week. The week in which the hopes and dreams of a nation are fulfilled, the week in which the impossible becomes the possible, and the week in which podcast listeners the world over breathe a sigh of relief, because Gareth is out of Bronze! Don't worry though, for some reason we only spend 2 minutes talking about it.

In news this week we've got stories on No Man's Sky's final release date and price, as well as gameplay; Fable creators Lionhead Studios getting shut down by Microsoft; Brand new Pokemon titles announced for Christmas called Sun and Moon; and a release date for Star Fox Zero. And if that wasn't enough we've also got news on Dota 2, Hitman, Zelda, and Resident Evils 4,5 and 6!

With the news out of the way we're free to talk about the week's biggest C**t in gaming, some more Disneyland "discussion" and of course your weekly fixes of video game music and Hot Goss Ip.

Then it's onto What Have We Been Playing, where Gareth hasn't JUST gotten out of Bronze, but he's also found time to complete both The Witness and SUPERHOT all in the same week!

Gareth is truly superhuman (and totally not writing this right now...)

Gamecentral Podcast: Episode 97 - Divisive

This week was host to one of the biggest betas of the year, The Division. Both Rob and Don have played it and have some pretty strong thoughts about it, but do they like it or loath it? Stay tuned until our final section to find out.

But before all that, we've got some news for you. Black Ops 3 is getting a multiplayer-only release on the PC; a shit load of people played Fallout Shelter as it turns out; Pokemon turns 20 years old this week; the HTC Vive VR headset finally has a price; news on when console players can expect Fallout 4 mods; and much more! Plus, don't forget that we've got a nutritious helping of Hot Goss Ip for you that you can't afford to miss (except that you totally can.)

All of that plus some tasty bonuses for you, like our "Sad C**t of the Week;" your weekly Video Game Music Segment; the latest update on Gareth's impending Disneyland adventure; how Rob embarrassed himself this week; and what Don got for his (I assume) 50th birthday.

It's a wonder we're able to cram it all into just 90 short minutes!

Gamecentral Podcast: Episode 96 - Reloaded

After a month away Don has returned in full force which means that the Gamecentral Podcast is back!

Far too much has happened to sum it all up, but we try to keep our News section as relevant as possible by talking about such recent gaming topics as Red Dead Redemption and the Sega Dreamcast. We also have news about Hideo Kojima's first non-gaming project since getting ditched by Konami; what Fallout 4's DLC has in store and how much it'll cost you; Quantum Break coming to Windows 10; Dark Souls 3's questionable DLC plans; and more!!!

Then, in amongst the various injections of Goss Ip, music, and Disney talk, we sit in disbelief as the world of gaming serves up another facepalmingly infuriating "achievement" performed by somebody with too much time on their hands in "OH, What a Sad C**t!"

And then finally we wrap up the show with What Have We Been Playing, in which Rob goes in depth with Dying Light's Enhanced Edition; Gareth changes his tune on Elder Scrolls Online; and Don admits that Fallout 4 is the best game he would have played last year... if he had played it in 2015 that is.

It's an episode of revelations, reactions, and realisations. It's the Gamecentral Podcast: Reloaded!

Gamecentral Podcast: Episode 95 - Be Our Guessed

Less than 3 weeks into 2016 and we're already looking backwards at the year that was 2015. A year ago we made some predictions about what we thought we would or wouldn't see, but one year later were our guesses correct, or were we way off the mark?

Before we find out though, it's time for your weekly dose of video game news. Hitman is going episodic; The Division's beta is on the way; Twilight Princess HD is getting an extra dungeon; and the results of Sony's attempted trademark of "Let's Play" have been revealed. Oh, and there was a trailer for a new Cloverfield film this week... You know, in case anyone missed it.

Some accomplishments in gaming are impressive, some are time consuming, and some require an enormous amount of skill. Then there are those that, while being all of those things, are just so ridiculous that you're forced to ask "what kind of person would even want to put themselves through that?" In our new section this week, we attempt to answer that question.

And finally, it's onto the green pastures of What Have We Been Playing, as we discuss Rocket League, Elder Scrolls Online, WWE 2K16, Diablo 3, Fallout 4, and Halo 5. Such a diverse and varied set of games could only appear on one show on the internet: The Gamecentral Podcast!

Enjoy!

Gamecentral Podcast: Episode 94 - Two Thousand And Sixteen

2015 is over and done with, and now it's time to get back to what we do best! We just have to remember what that is...

Oh yeah, news!

We have a confirmed launch date and price for the Oculus Rift (and it's not cheap); Psychonauts 2 is definitely a thing that's definitely happening; and Activision has bought the Major League Gaming esports organization. This news plus news on Watch_Dogs 2, the next Assassin's Creed, Scalebound, Just Cause 3, and more! Plus your industry-breaking dose of Hot Goss Ip, as always.

Don may not be with us in voice, but he's with us in spirit... and pre-recorded voice, to tell us what he's been playing, and it's not Destiny! This is not a drill, repeat, this is not a drill! And as Christmas has come and gone we've got our Christmas hauls to talk about, including: Fallout 4, Dark Souls, Pro Evolution Soccer 2016, WWE 2k16 and lots more to cover on top of that.

It's bloody freezing, so put your earmuffs on, slide your earphones on underneath them, and let us make your chilly winter trips that little bit more enjoyable! Unless we have Guy back on ofcourse, in which case tear the ear phones out and throw your phone as far as you can, whilst running in the opposite direction.

Happy new year!

Gamecentral Podcast: Episode 93 - Game of the Year 2015

It's been a couple of weeks since we last put out a podcast, but we return triumphantly to discuss what we think are the top games of the year!

We each have our own idea of what the best game was, but there will be no arguments here! Because we're going to let all 3 of our Games of the Year share the spotlight as we go in depth about why we love our specific picks as much as we do.

Did I say "all 3 of us?" Oh, silly me, I forgot to mention, this podcast also marks the triumphant return of one Robert Walker! It's a Christmas miracle!

2015 was great, so join us in celebrating a year in which Don wasn't able to vote for Destiny for Game of the Year, a year in which Gareth gained and lost 2 whole jobs, and a year in which Rob sexually harassed NO women live on the podcast. And it was also choc-full of great games!

Oh, and... Merry Christmas!

Gamecentral Podcast: Episode 92 - Solo

This week, as it's a one-man affair, we're keeping the podcast nice and simple, and within a somewhat restrained time frame... for once.

In news we cover the bigger announcements coming out of the Game Awards, including Telltale's take on Batman; Far Cry: Primal's first reveal of gameplay footage; and Psychonauts 2, amongst many other stories from the awards (including which game won Game of the Year.) There's also news of the Final Fantasy VII "remake," the remake of Resident Evil 2, Majora's Mask and Destiny.

The year is drawing to a close so we need to start deciding what is the Best __________ of the Year soon, so all through December, our music sections will be dedicated to the 4 finalists for best soundtrack. What game will this week's soundtrack belong to?

Then to round off a lean podcast, there's just time for talk of Rocket League and Tales From the Borderlands to send you home with. Start working on your 2015 game pile now guys, every day 2016 lunges closer towards us, thrusting the cold entropic crotch of time in our general direction as its enormous pendulum caresses our faces.

See you next week!

Gamecentral Podcast: Episode 91 - Phoneless

In what can only be described as "another episode of the podcast," we return to give you the low down in this week's gaming shenanigans.

In news this week we're talking about Rainbow Six: Siege's beta woes; some release dates for upcoming releases; PS4 receiving PS2 backwards compatability; News on how big Star Wars: Battlefront's launch was; and Resident Evil 6 coming to current gen consoles... which nobody wants. All this and more for those of you who've stayed away from the headlines this week.

We've got more Hot Goss Ip for you, and some fantastic music before we talk about the games that have been keeping us busy these past 7 days. Aside from the regular likes of Destiny and Fallout 4, we also talk about Guitar Hero: Live, the newest entry into the franchise. Will it measure up? Ask Guy, that's what we did.

We begin possible preparations for the return of Rob Walker to the podcast, so husbands lock up your wives... and your daughters... and probably bring the cat in the house, just to be on the safe side.

Gamecentral Podcast: Episode 90 - Cloud-based Gaming

Remember last week when Guy Whitlock was back on the podcast for one week only, and how special of a treat that was?... Well he's back again this week. I know, not quite as exciting a 2nd time.

But oh well, we're not going to let Guy's underwhelming presence drag us down, in stead we're going to throw video games at you until you beg us to stop!

In news this week we've got the hottest stories out of last week's Nintendo Direct, including Final Fantasy VII's Cloud being in Super Smash Bros; Pokemon Picross and re-releases of Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow for the 3DS; Cloud Strife, a character from Final Fantasy VII coming to Super Smash Bros; Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD heading to the Wii U with a special Wolf Link Amiibo along side it; and also, Super Smash Bros is adding Cloud to its roster. You know, Cloud, from Final Fantasy VII.

There's also Hot Gossip for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain owners, and news about Fallout 4, Destiny, Resident Evil Revelations 2 and Naughty Dog's future plans.

Then if you haven't had your fill of hearing about Fallout 4 yet, you will after What Have We Been Playing, as Gareth and Guy have a meandering, aimless conversation the likes of which nobody has ever heard before... or ever wants to hear again.

Plus, did you guys hear that Cloud is going to be in Super Smash Bros?!

Still one Halo 5 soundtrack to give away, so get your emails in!

Fallout 4! Did you guys know Fallout 4 is now out?! FALLOUT 4?!?

But there were also video game happenings this week that weren't Fallout related, and we'll give you the low down on all of those happenings in this week's News section. We talk about the World of Warcraft movie trailer, Black Ops 3's impressive opening weekend sales figures, Nintendo's plans for all-free phone apps, and Just Cause 3 developer Avalanche talks about the game's potential multiplayer.
