Gamecentral Podcast: Episode 48 - Game Of The Year 2014

With 2014 in the rear view mirror there's just one bit of business left to attend to, we need to figure out what the best game of the last 12 months was. We are a podcast of individuals however, so naturally we each need to argue our case... In court!

We'll also count down the top 10 games of the year as voted for by the 'Gamecentral Lives!' Facebook Group and see how it measures to Gareth's own list making skills.

There will be revelations (did you know Don likes Destiny?!?) and compromises, as well as a rather large announcement regarding an incredibly special guest that will be coming on the podcast in the next few weeks.

What a way to start off the New Year! With the Gamecentral Podcast!

Gamecentral Podcast: Episode 47 - 2014 Recap!

So that's it, 2014 is in the can and all we can do now is look back on it with fondness and disdain in equal measure. With the aid of Gamecentral Podcast veteran Mr. Guy Whitlock, we take a month-by-month look at the last year in gaming and judge the kind of year it's been.

What parts were highlights, which parts were lowlights, and which parts were mehlights? Come and join Gareth, Rob, Don and GUY to find out! With, ofcourse, plenty of insulting Guy along the way. It's tradition!

And be sure to join us next week for our Game of the Year discussions! Consensus WILL be reached, or your money back!

Gamecentral Podcast: Episode 46 - Festivitease

It's almost here! We're only one week away from Christmas (or, if you prefer, "Annual Catch Up On A Year's Worth Of Missed Gaming" week!) and the excitement is brewing for another delightful holiday season, but the Ghost of Christmas News is an ever-present spectre around this time of year, so there is still work to be done!

Want to hear about how Smash Bros. launch has affected Wii U sales? We've got you covered! Who's the most popular Amiibo? We'll tell you! Curious about Microsoft's upcoming game streaming service? So are we! All this and more, including a DmC: Devil May Cry remake, Nintendo partnering with Sony, Xbox One overtaking the PS4 in sales, and more, in this week's News!

As it's the festive season, we've decided to adapt a staple of holiday television for our little podcast, in the form of the classic "Christmas Top 100 [insert topic here]" list! Obviously we're not going to do 100 though, so we just run down the 5 things we miss most about gaming. They may not all be gone, but they definitely don't exist like they used to. Join us, reminisce, and also feel a little bit sad at these lost, former staples of gaming.

Then in What Have We Been Playing we discuss Destiny's 'Dark Below' DLC, The Wolf Among Us, Borderlands: The Pre Sequel, Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls and more. Could it be that the year is almost over?! Unfortunately it is, but don't worry, we have a few surprises planned to help ease you into next year.

See you next week for the final podcast of 2014!

Gamecentral Podcast: Episode 45 - Shigeru Baby

Stick a Zelda under the tree, for me...

The jingle bells continue this week as the holiday season creeps ever closer and the game releases are grinding to a halt. It's still been a busy week for news though, as we discuss The Game Awards 2014 and all the newest announcements that were made at the show (new Zelda footage anyone?!?). Then we go on to talk about new Uncharted 4 gameplay footage, Final Fantasy 7 on PS4, Street Fighter 5 exclusive to the PS4 and PC, Borderlands Online launching in China, Microsoft publishing Rise of the Tomb Raider and MORE!

We share your favourite Christmas gaming memories, as given to us on the 'Gamecentral Lives!' Facebook page, before we introduce our guest. Emran Erfan is a collector of everything Nintendo, so we ask him what the collector community is like; how digital sales and DLC are affecting his collection and what exactly is in his collection.

In What Have We Been Playing, we've got coverage of Destiny, The Wolf Among Us, Killzone: Mercenary and a few fun and cheap phone apps!

The audio is a tiny bit up and down this week, but fortunately nobody's to blame. Gareth. Gareth is to blame. Blame Gareth. (Sorry listeners!)

Gamecentral Podcast: Episode 44 - 'Tis The Season

December's finally here! And we're Christmassing up the podcast appropriately, so look forward to lots of sleigh bells over the next few weeks!

In this week's feature we take a look back at our fondest Christmas memories, and those of you that let us know yours, we'll be featuring your Christmas memories on next week's episode.

You'll have to listen to find out. GTA V, Destiny, Borderlands: The Pre Sequel, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Farcry 4 have also been played this week!

Gamecentral Podcast: Episode 43 - The Goat, The Baa'd And The Ubi

It's time once again for your fix of news and opinions from the world of video games. The reviews are coming in, and both Smash Bros. and Grand Theft Auto 5 have been doing the rounds, but how do they both hold up in the eyes of the video game world's toughest critics? We also cover more details on the future Majora's Mask 3DS remake; find out how popular the Evolve Big Alpha was; get teased with hints at a multiplayer mode in Just Cause 3; and did you know Goat Simulator is an MMO now?! All this and more in this week's News section.

In our feature this week we're talking about the state of new releases nowadays, and how it has become the norm to put out a broken game, and then to just fix it at a later date (a trend, surprisingly, none of us are too fond of!)

And finally, in What Have We Been Playing we cover Far Cry 4, Borderlands: The Pre Sequel, Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls, Mario Kart 8, GTA V on next-gen and, yes, even WWE Super Card! What a week! What a show! What a podcast!!!

Gamecentral Podcast: Episode 42 - Halo (And Thanks For All The Fish)

It's Halo week this week! With Halo: The Master Chief Collection out in stores, we take an episode to talk about the Xbox's favourite son, as we discuss what we thought of the game-changing franchise.

First though we have to talk about the week's news, and what a week it's been! We talk about the big announcements from Blizzcon last weekend; the new Majora's Mask 3D announced for 3DS; Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's amazing sales AND... Wait, no, that can't be right... Lego Jurassic Park?! You're god damn right!

Then in what have we been playing we're discussing Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, and for some reason WWE Super Card. Mistakes were made.

It's the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything: The Gamecentral Podcast!

Gamecentral Podcast: Episode 41 - Going CommanDon

The Three Gamigos (like Amigos but pronounced like GAME-me-goes... good stuff that) are back and we've plenty to talk about this week. We discuss the smaller Xbox One that's almost certainly in production; the Oculus Rift's sooner-than-expected launch; the potential advantages that playing GTA V in first-person mode might have and Smash Bros Wii U getting a new release date. Plus much more, but you already knew that.

For our 'Feature' this week we've managed to convince James "Hawkie" Lawrence to grace the podcast again, and despite Rob's best efforts to incite "beef" between James and Gareth, he still manages to fill us in on the finer points of the Evolved alpha that happened this past week.

Then in 'What Have We Been Playing' we talk about Don's love life (ofcourse) before moving on to Shadow of Mordor and Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2014 before Gareth and Rob talk about how and why the Call of Duty series has now turned into one of the freshest, most original gaming experiences on the market! Yeah, you read that right! So if you want to experience that conversation (and I think you do), there's only one place you're going to hear it: On this week's Gamecentral Podcast!

Gamecentral Podcast: Episode 40 - Ramble On

This week, in the absence of Rob or Don, Gareth has reached out to members of the 'Gamecentral Lives!' Facebook page for help, and James "Hawkie" Lawrence and Chris Tomkinson answer the call.

It's news, news, news this week, so fasten your seat-belts... and maybe grab a Red Bull. The big news bits of the week include a release date and price for Destiny's first major expansion; Star Wars Battlefront's release date; Nintendo looking to make its first annual profit in four years; Mario Kart 8's Excitebike DLC; the best of this week's Super Smash Bros Nintendo Direct and much, MUCH more!

And if you're expecting a Feature and "What Have We Been Playing"... then, umm, sorry. The podcast was FARRRRRRRRRRRR too long with that stuff still in. There just aren't enough hours in the day. Whoah Nelly, seriously, ain't nobody got time for that!

Gamecentral Podcast: Episode 39 - Singin' Indie Rain

This week we bask in the failure of our live episode by doing what we do best: Abandoning failed ideas! Don't be expecting another live show from us for a little while, but do be expecting only the finest news stories in the world of gaming this week. From GTA: San Andreas coming to Xbox 360; to EA patching FIFA to make scoring goals easier, with even a little bit of Smash Bros news thrown in to round it all out.

In our feature this week we argue whether Indie games are good or bad, with Rob arguing for bad, and Don and Gareth arguing for the correct answer: Good. Then in this week's "What Have We Been Playing" we talk about a couple of new releases we've been playing in The Evil Within and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, somehow finding time to squeeze in a smidge of Destiny, Dynasty Warriors and Alien Breed.

It's not every podcast that can start with a fresh rap, and end with a graphic conversation about shemales, but then you're not listening to just any podcast, you're listening to the Gamecentral Podcast!
